I have to let you guys in on little secret..up until recently I had no idea there was a difference in escort cards and place cards..I mean I just thought they were the same. I got to thinking I can’t be the only one who thought these two were just one in the same. Today, I am going to share the differences between the two and of course provide some fun inspiration for you to see. We’ll also take a look at some seating chart inspiration as well!
Escort cards are little cards that include the guest(s) name and table assignment number. The escort cards are usually arranged somewhere near the entrance of the reception area and guests look for their name and take their card with them to their assigned seat. It used to be just as simple as a name being placed on a card with a table number but, over time brides have become creative with the way in which they feature their escort cards. One thing to keep in mind with escort cards is the traffic near the entrance to your reception..a good way to keep this down is to arrange the escort cards in alphabetical order so your guest can find their name easily.
Place cards are similar to escort cards in that they include the name of the guest as well as the assigned seat however, these are actually placed at the seat to which they are assigned. Something to keep in mind here is that guests may wonder around from table to table looking for their seat. However, again with place cards you can be as creative as you like.
Seating Charts are also located at the entrance to the reception area. It usually includes the lay out of the room, table numbers and who will be seated at each table all in one display. Like escort cards this can cause alot of traffic at the entrance to your reception hall and cause confusion for guests finding their name and assigned seat…however at the same time it might be bit more organized because it’s in one space not alot of cards to mingle through.
So which will you chose? Sound off below!
