Chic Brown Bride Turns 2!!!

That’s right folks, 2 years ago on this very day I wrote my first blog post. I had one goal in mind…to display positive imagery of brides of color in the most chic way possible. (hence the name, Chic Brown Bride)  I also wanted to provide a place where women of color can embrace their God given beauty. From real weddings to engagements, One on One interviews with industry professionals and Designer Spotlights all of these things make this site what it is today.  I am so proud to say that this little place in the blogosphere has grown to be so much for me, and hopefully for you as well. I’d now like to think of Chic Brown Bride as a wedding & lifestyle site for women of color. Even with that said, there is so much more I’d like to do…my dreams and aspirations for this site are so much bigger than you’ll ever know. And while it will will always be about weddings I’m looking to grow it into so much more as I strive for it to be a place of inspiration and empowerment for women of color.

This year I’m moving forward with treating Chic Brown Bride as a business. It’s quite scary to think about it that way and definitely taking me out of my comfort zone; but honestly that’s what needs to be done to take things to the next level. There are 3 things I am concentrating on this year with the blog:

Consistency: There were two segments I started on the blog that I slacked on, that I’m going to pick back up including the weekly Wedding Buzz (link love) where I give you the latest happenings around the web in weddings, life, style & travel. As well as the Chic at Home series that dives into registry ideas and home decor etc.

Branding:  It is my goal to make Chic Brown Brown a well known brand amongst women of color. I’m working behind the scenes on products and eventually would like to collaborate with like minded individuals on hosting events as well as giveaways.

Education/Advice:  I’m looking forward to launching a new Ask the Wedding Pro’s series. This segment will give you, the readers a chance to get more wedding planning advice straight from the professionals. You’ll see what I mean as the months go on and I introduce new platforms & products to the blog and I hope you stick around for the evolution of it.

I’d like to thank all my blogger friends who continue to be a support to me in this journey. Blogging is still relatively new and things change daily, so I am so grateful that I have a bunch of peeps behind me as we all grow together.

 I’d also like to thank my readers…for visiting the site daily, as well as commenting and tagging on social media. I remember when the only people who read the blog were people I knew, lol and now we’ve grown so much and get visits from all over the world which blows my mind daily.
